Faith isn’t just something you experience once and then tuck away like a memory. It’s a living, growing force—and just like a fire, it needs to be fed or it will fade.
The Bible tells us in Jude 1:20, “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.”* That means your faith isn’t static—it’s meant to rise, deepen, and become more effective as you walk with God.
Think about fire. When you light a flame, it only lasts as long as you keep feeding it. The same applies to your faith. You can’t rely on yesterday’s fire to carry you today. You need fresh fuel, and for believers, that fuel is the Word of God.
As Romans 10:17 reminds us, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” The more you immerse yourself in God’s Word, the more your faith comes alive. But hearing the Word isn’t enough on its own. You need to put your faith to work—speak it, act on it, live it.
The Amplified Classic translation of Jude 1:20 says it this way:
“Build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit.”
This means that no matter how much faith you already have, there’s still more. You’re meant to grow—rising higher, deeper, and stronger. That’s the journey of faith: ever-increasing, never stagnant.
Maybe you’ve seen victories through faith before—times you believed boldly and God came through. That’s beautiful, but it’s not the end. Faith isn’t a one-time success story. It’s a lifestyle of trust, boldness, and continual growth.
So, feed your faith with the Word. Stir it through prayer. Stretch it through obedience. And above all, never stop building. The more you do, the stronger and more unstoppable your faith becomes.
Faith that’s fed, used, and stretched—always prevails.
