Let God’s Love Dominate You

You’re familiar with the old written law, “love friend,” and its unwritten companion, “hate your enemy”. I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst…Matthew 5:43-44(Message Translation Version).

The society tells you to love your friends and hate your enemies. On the contrary, the Lord Jesus is teaching you in the portion of the scripture you’ve just read to love both your friends and enemies.

It’s important to note that He was addressing men who weren’t born again; people who still thought of their enemies as flesh and blood. Sadly, some Christians still think this way, and sometimes pray against their enemies saying, “Oh Lord! Fight against my enemies, destroy them…’

The real enemy every Christian has is Satan and not any human person. Therefore, no Christian should worry about any human enemy because his enemy is a spirit, and not some human person somewhere (Ephesians 6:12). Beyond this, you also need to be God-conscious rather than enemy-enemy conscious.

You can’t be God-conscious until you’re conscious of God’s love. This is why you must always take out time to meditate on the love of God. Think about His grace, kindness and how he chose you to be His child, in spite of your imperfections. Always remember that if you were the only one on earth, the Lord Jesus would still have given His life for you. Just as the man in Matthew 13:44 sold everything he had to buy a field because of the treasure in it; you are treasure Jesus saw that He willingly gave His life for. When you let the love of God dominate you as you meditate on His Word, you’ll cease to be enemy-conscious.

You are alive by the Spirit

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you Romans 8:11. God gave birth to us by the Word, through the spirit. You’re not ordinary person if you are in Christ or if you have the new life in Christ Jesus. The human life you received from your parents has been replaced, supplanted, by the divine life of Christ. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of corruptible, by the word of god, which liveth and abideth forever.”    Often, I tell people that Christianity is more than a legal document; it’s a vital experience; there’s a true life from Christ beating in your heart which is the new life in Christ Jesus. The natural man (anyone without the New Life in Christ Jesus or anyone who is not born again) lives by blood, but a Christian lives by the Spirit. No wonder Jesus, referring to the ne...

The Reign of Death is over

Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come (Romans 5:14)  Satan became the god of this earth because he got it from Adam who lost out through disobedience, resulting significantly in the reign of death. Remember, God had told Adam, “… in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17). He was talking about spiritual death; spiritual death is the cause of physical death. So, our theme verse says, “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses (the Law of Moses)…”  But who had the power of death? The Bible says, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil” (Hebrews 2:14). Satan was actually behind this reign of death. Now, here’s something exciting that I want ...

The Divinity of Jesus

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father; but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, have seen him” John 14:6-7.   “Is Jesus really God?”   This is one question many still ask today. They believe He was a great prophet and teacher, but find it difficult to accept that He is Himself God, but He is. The Bible says “In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the Word was God ” John 1:1. That “Word” that the Bible says “was God” became flesh-Jesus- and dwelt among us: “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” John 1:14.     Now, the prophecy that came forth before the birth of Jesus also foretold His divinity: “Behold, a virgin shall be with a child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanue...
