The Blessing of Abraham

Blessing of Abraham

the blessing of Abraham is no ordinary concept- it is the foundation of the Gospel. Many think of only in terms of material prosperity, but it's far greater. The blessing of Abraham is the outpouring of God's grace, His covernant kindness, translated from the Hebrew word, "hesed." It includes divine favour, fruitfulness, dominion, and most importantly, the promise of thr Spirit.

When God called Abraham, He said, "I will bless you and make you a blessing...and in you shall all the families of the earth be blessed" (Genesis 12:2-3). This was God's prophetic declaration of the Gospel.  It was the announcement of His plan to pour out His love and goodness on all humanity through faith. The Apostle Paul made it clear that this blessing has now come to the gentile through jesus Christ.

thus, if you are in Christ, you are Abraham's seed and an heir according to promise (Galatians 3:29). You are the fulfilment of god's promise to Abraham thousands of years ago. That blesssing includes justification, righteousness, the Holy Spirit, and divine access to god's fullness.

the Bible says, "so then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham" Galatians 3:9. When God made the promise to Abraham, it was to Abraham's seed, which is Christ: "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, and to seeds, as of many; but of one , and to thy seed , which is Christ" Galatians 3:16.

When you received Christ, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. that seal marks you as God's own and guarantees your access to all the blessings and benefits of the Abrahamic covenant: "And if ye be in christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heir according to the pormise" Galatians 3:29. Walk in this consciousness. you are not trying to be blessed; you are blesssed with faithful Abraham.

Peter, speaking by the Spirit, told the Jews , "ye are the children of the prophets and of the covenant..." Act3:25. He was calling attention to their divine heritage, one that included being heirs of God's covenant with Abraham. Through christ, this covenant has extended to the Gentiles-to anyone who comes to god through faith in Jesus Christ.

Furthermore, this coventant is not just about receiving; it's about "becoming"; God told Abraham, "I will bless you and make you a blessing" Genesis 12:2. That means we have become vessels of blessing. You are a blesssing to your family, city, nation, and your world. You are the bearer of God's covernant kindness; the Hebrew word is "Hesed."

"Hesed" is not ordinary kindness. it's god's coventant love- His favour, His goodness, His mercy- all wrapped into one. When you show kndness, forgive quickly, walk in love, and bless others with your words and actions, you are walking in "hesed". You are revealing the nature of Father.

The Reign of Death is over

Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come (Romans 5:14)  Satan became the god of this earth because he got it from Adam who lost out through disobedience, resulting significantly in the reign of death. Remember, God had told Adam, “… in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17). He was talking about spiritual death; spiritual death is the cause of physical death. So, our theme verse says, “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses (the Law of Moses)…”  But who had the power of death? The Bible says, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil” (Hebrews 2:14). Satan was actually behind this reign of death. Now, here’s something exciting that I want ...

You are alive by the Spirit

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you Romans 8:11. God gave birth to us by the Word, through the spirit. You’re not ordinary person if you are in Christ or if you have the new life in Christ Jesus. The human life you received from your parents has been replaced, supplanted, by the divine life of Christ. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of corruptible, by the word of god, which liveth and abideth forever.”    Often, I tell people that Christianity is more than a legal document; it’s a vital experience; there’s a true life from Christ beating in your heart which is the new life in Christ Jesus. The natural man (anyone without the New Life in Christ Jesus or anyone who is not born again) lives by blood, but a Christian lives by the Spirit. No wonder Jesus, referring to the ne...

The Divinity of Jesus

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father; but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, have seen him” John 14:6-7.   “Is Jesus really God?”   This is one question many still ask today. They believe He was a great prophet and teacher, but find it difficult to accept that He is Himself God, but He is. The Bible says “In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the Word was God ” John 1:1. That “Word” that the Bible says “was God” became flesh-Jesus- and dwelt among us: “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” John 1:14.     Now, the prophecy that came forth before the birth of Jesus also foretold His divinity: “Behold, a virgin shall be with a child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanue...
