Speaking in tongues is one of the sigins of the New Creation

“And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they   shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover ( Mark 16:17-18).” After His resurrection, and just before He disciples a rundown of the characteristic features of those who would believe on His Name. He mentioned speaking in other tongues as one of the identifying signs of the believers: “and these signs shall follow them that believe…they shall speak with new tongues…” This is a blessing that belongs to every Christian. If the Lord cared enough to include it in the scriptures as one of the signs of the new creation then it goes to show how important it is. When a man is born again, the Bible says that he is a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), and speaking in tongues is one of the signs by which he will be identified. When you re

Speaking in Tongues is from the Holy Spirit

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4).   On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples of Jesus, and immediately they began to speak in other tongues. Some of those outside began to mock them, because the bible says “… he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries” (1Corinthians 14:2). When you speak in the other tongues, no man understands what you are saying, because you are speaking to God.   However, the point you should note is that the disciples spoke with tongues as the spirit gave them utterance. The Living Bible says they “began speaking in languages they didn’t know, for the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.” The Good News Bible puts it this way: “they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enabled

Speaking in tongues is an Evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit

And they all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4).   Speaking in tongues is one of the signs that you have received the Holy Spirit though it’s not the only sign, yet it’s a very important one. On the very first day the Holy spirit came down to begin His ministry in the earth, the Bible says, “…And suddenly   there came a sound from heaven as rushing might wind, and filled all the house where they were   sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts2:1-4). The very first outward sign demonstrated by the apostles having received the Holy Spirit was speaking in other tongues. The same thing happened with Paul and the brethren he met in Ephesus. He asked them “Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?” and their response wa

Speaking in Tongues Charges Up your spirit

He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself… 1 Corinthians 14: 4 When you speak in other tongues, you “charge” your spirit, much the same way as a battery is charged. When a car battery for example, is left inactive for a while, you’d need to charge it again to restore it to an effective state. The same goes for the human spirit; you ought to always “charge up” your spirit and get it perpetually active by speaking in tongues. Speaking in tongues “quick charges” your spirit it helps your spirit respond very quickly to spiritual things. As you learn to speak in tongues frequently, the anointing will easily be stirred up within you, and you’ll find yourself living in consistent victory and triumph. The Bible shows us how some of the Old Testament folks stirred the anointing each time they want to accomplish divine tasks. Samson for one, knew that the way to charge up his spirit was to shake himself. After he was betrayed by Delilah and his hair was shaved, the bible say

Speaking in Tongues Activates the Power of God

Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands 2 Timothy1: 6. The power of God came into your life the day you received the Holy Spirit: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you… “   Acts 1:8. However, this doesn’t the power is active v already; you’ve got to activate it. That’s why Paul told Timothy to stir up the gift of God in him. He was referring to the power of the Holy Spirit which can be dormant in your spirit unless you activate it. Sad to say that some folks have received    the power of God (having been born again and filled with the Holy Spirit), but have allowed that power lie dormant in them. So, often times you find them praying to God for what already belongs to them. The Lord, through His word shows us that we’re responsible for activating His power in us. Paul didn’t say to timothy “pray to God to stir up the gift in you,” for not god responsibility, but yours.

Praying in Tongues is Spiritual Exercise

But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise   thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come, 1 Timothy 4:7-8. Exercising yourself unto godliness means exercising your human spirit, which is the real you. Man is a spirit; he lives in a body, and has a soul. While physical exercise is useful for the physical body, the benefits are still little when compared with spiritual exercise which is of “profitable unto all things” (1Timothy 4:8). One sure way of exercising yourself unto godliness is praying with the spirit, in other tongues. This is one spiritual exercise that keeps your spirit-man aglow and afire for God!  Christians who regularly pray in tongues are more “fit” spiritually than those who don’t. They’ll always be more attuned to the things of the spirit! They are more sensitive and responsive to the anointing, and more easily move

Praying in tongues is a higher form of prayer

What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also 1 Corinthians14:15. Through the years, I’ve observed that many Christians prefer to pray in the language they understand rather than pray in other tongues. Praying in your native language or any other language you are used to is what the Word of God refers to as “praying in the understanding.” But the truth is, that’s the lesser way to pray. Praying in tongues is a more effective means of communicating with God than praying in your understanding- it produces more spiritual results. This is the reason the Apostle Paul said “I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also”, showing us the right order and priority in prayer. Praying with the understanding is the “also” but most Christians have it the other way round. They pray with their understanding and pray with their spirit also. That’s the

Praying in other Tongues is Not Optional for the Believer

So a person “speaking in tongues” helps himself grow spiritually… 1 Corinthians 14:4. Praying in tongues is an effective means of spiritual communication with the Lord; it transcends the natural mind or intellect 1 Corinthians 14: 14. When you speak in tongues, you are stirred; the anointing wells up like currents from your spirit. That anointing works on your mind such that you are transported to the higher realms of glory. Our opening scripture tells us that the one who speaks in tongues “helps himself grow spiritually”; which means, for you to experience serious spiritual growth, you must speak in tongues consistently. Besides, when you pray in other tongues, you build your faith: “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost” Jude 1:20. Thus, for the believer, speaking in other tongues is not an option; it is a necessary requirement for your spiritual growth and upliftment.   The Weymouth’s translation of 1corinthians 14:4 says,

The Greatest Force in The Universe

And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God Ephesian 3:19      Love is the greatest power in the world. It’s the greatest force in the universe. The Bible says God is love 1 John 4:8. Love raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Love can bring forth anything you require for your life. Even now, the love –power of God is present, but until you know the love of God, you can’t its power. some people don’t experience the love of God because they are not certain that God loves them ask yourself, ”Do I love God?” if your answer is yes, then ask yourself another question: “Is God as good as I am ?” if again, your answer is yes, then it means He will definitely love you, at the very least, as much as you love Him. God isn’t only as good as you are; He’s better.       His love for you is unfathomable, unconditional, pure and eternal. He loves you more than you could ever love yourself. In fact, you could never have loved Him i

Power of God to Save

The power of God to save men is the Gospel of Christ Jesus. Romans 1:16, “for I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” This Gospel testifies that Jesus came to bring man out of sin, distress and trouble, to give him the gift of righteousness and to make him one with himself. He came to make you a partaker of the divine nature 2 Peter1:4.   All a man needs to do, to partake in all that Jesus has made available, is to believe the Gospel. The power of the Gospel only work for those who believe: “for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” Romans10:10.believing the Gospel is the only way your spirit can contact with God. When you believe the word, that God raised Jesus from the dead, and confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ, you are automatically made righteous in Christ Romans5:1, Romans 10:9.    Ti

Power to cause a change

If you have the new life in Christ Jesus, you have been endued with tremendous power to turn any situation around in your favour. You were imbued with power the moment you received the Holy Spirit into your life: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…” Acts 1: 8. That is the dynamic ability to cause changes.   As a creation in Christ Jesus, you are not ordinary. You are not supposed to be a victim of the adverse circumstances and situations of life, for you are anointed. With the anointing of the Holy Spirit in you, you can change anything that’s not consistent with the will, purpose and plan of God for you. You can effect changes in your office, home, and family or in your physical body. You can even influence and effect changes in the government of the nation where you live.   2 Timothy 1:7 says: “for God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of sound mind.” This refers to the spirit of power, excellence

Praying According To His Will

Praying according to the will God has to do with the way you ask. Some people believe that if they did not receive answer to their prayers it means that they prayed outside the will of God, but it is not so. There is nothing God cannot do for you, and nothing is too small to ask and nothing is too much. 1 John 14-15,”and this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us , whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” This means that praying according the will of God determines if your prayers can be heard of God. In verse 15, you can notice that the Bible says “whatsoever we ask” meaning that you can ask anything and it will be done for you. So there is no limit to the thing God can do for you, even if it does not exist, he can make it for you.                                                 Do you want to receive answers to your prayers?       H

Living by the Word of God

Do you know that you can be whatever you want to be with the word of God? Matthew 4: 1-4,”… man shall not live by bread alone …” why is this very important? It is important because we have spiritual bodies and physical bodies but we are spirits living inside the physical bodies. The physical body does not enter into heaven that is another reason it is very important to feed your spiritual body.    The more you feed your spiritual body with the word of God, the better your relationship with God and the more your spiritual vision. That is why Jesus said that man cannot live by bread alone but by every word of God. When you study the word of God, the spirit of God is activated to teach you the word that you need for that moment.   The word of God is the propelling force, or power that can cause you to change anything in your life. The wisdom in the word of God will be the wisdom that will guide you. The power of the Holy Spirit will cause you to

Power for living a bold life

There is a supernatural power that is at work in every Christian or believer in Christ Jesus. This supernatural power is the power for living a Christian life. This is the result of the boldness you see in the life of any Christian who knows about this power. Proverbs 28:1, “…the righteous is as bold as a lion.” The dynamic power of the Spirit of God at work in the Christian is that ability to cause changes and the power for living a righteous life. Praise God!   “But ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come up you…” Acts 1:8 When the early Christians received this power, they were bold to preach the gospel and courageous in face of adversity. For example, Peter’s ministry took a new dimension that in a day three thousand gave their life to Jesus Christ. So Christians are not ordinary, they are supernaturally empowered to turn situations to their advantages. Amen!   Christians are participators in divinity, praise God! We are born that way, to be victorious

Reigning in Christ Jesus

One of the most exciting privileges of any Christian is the right to reign over all the situations life may bring on his way. A religious mind will have problem with this very truth because he doesn’t know Christ Jesus. This truth can only be accepted by people who listen to him and it is not only about listening  but also because  they have personal experiences with the power of the word of God. 1 John 4:6, “we are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us.” But if you can take in this truth your life will never be the same.                                                  Why is the Christians Reigning?   Romans 5:17, “…because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and gift of righteousness will reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.” They are reigning because they have received the abundance of grace and gift of righteousness; they

How to follow Jesus

Following Jesus is not going to church always, it is not praying always, it is not reading the bible always etc. although, all these activities are good but they do not make one a follower of Christ Jesus. Matthew 19:16-21, the rich young ruler was perfect in all of them yet something was missing which was the most important one. In the book of John 3:1 Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jew, was disqualified in spite of his knowledge of the law.              What is following Jesus? So, what is following Jesus? Following Jesus Christ is living by the word of God. Luke 4:4 and Jesus answered him saying man shall not live by bread alone, by every word of God. This is living your life according to the direction of the Word of God. It is abiding in the word of God or Jesus. John 15:4-5.     Steps to follow  ·          You must believe in Jesus Christ, John 3:16   ·          You must be born again John 3:3 ·          You must have faith in God. Heb 11:1-6 ·

Step Out of the boat

And he said, come. And when peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus… Matthew 14:29.   In Matthew14, Jesus walked on water and showed us something remarkable about the life of faith; the life of the Spirit we have been called to live. When His disciples saw Him walking on water, they were scared, thinking He was a ghost. However, Jesus allayed their fears and said,”…it is I; be not afraid” Matthew 14:27. When Peter heard the master’s voice, he spoke up,”…Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water” Matthew 14:28. Jesus obliged and said, “come.”   Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water to meet Jesus. Shortly afterwards, Peter began to drown in the water when he saw the raging tempest; fear gripped his heart and that dissipated his faith.   Walking on the water is a life of the Spirit where you don’t consider anything else but the word of God. It’s when you come out of that comfort zone and security of the boat, a

Carriers of God’s Divine Presence

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (2 Peter 1:4).   Man in all his goodness and kindness is nothing before the Lord (Isaiah 64:6), until he receives the glorious life in him. But you are a partaker of the divine life.   The reason you can stand before the Lord unashamed with hands lifted in worship, honour and adoration is that you have His kind of life. You’re His holy vessel, His tabernacle, and He lives inside you. His presence drives sickness, fear, poverty, depression or unhappiness away from your life. That presence causes men to favour you and money to come to you by free course. His presence opens the door which no man can shut (Revelation 3:8).   You carry the presence of the Lord with you everywhere you go in the person of the Holy Spirit. You’ve moved beyond the revelation of “Emmanuel;” God with us (Matthew 1:2

Let God’s Love Dominate You

You’re familiar with the old written law, “love friend,” and its unwritten companion, “hate your enemy”. I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst…Matthew 5:43-44(Message Translation Version).   The society tells you to love your friends and hate your enemies. On the contrary, the Lord Jesus is teaching you in the portion of the scripture you’ve just read to love both your friends and enemies.   It’s important to note that He was addressing men who weren’t born again; people who still thought of their enemies as flesh and blood. Sadly, some Christians still think this way, and sometimes pray against their enemies saying, “Oh Lord! Fight against my enemies, destroy them…’   The real enemy every Christian has is Satan and not any human person. Therefore, no Christian should worry about any human enemy because his enemy is a spirit, and not some human person somewhere (Ephesians 6:12). Beyond this, you
