I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. (John 10:14) The Lord Jesus used the scripture above to describe His primary responsibility towards us. Notice He didn’t say, “I am the apostle,” even though he is. He didn’t say, “I am the good prophet” even though yet again He is. He chose to describe Himself as the “good shepherd.” He’s our good shepherd! That’s another way of saying He’s our‘Good pastor’ because a shepherd is a pastor. David, by the spirit outlined the qualities of the good shepherd in Psalm 23: 1-3: “the lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” The Good shepherd feeds his sheep without their having to ask; He nurtures, guides and protects them from harm.
