The Lord Jesus used
the scripture above to describe His primary responsibility towards us. Notice
He didn’t say, “I am the apostle,” even though he is. He didn’t say, “I am the
good prophet” even though yet again He is. He chose to describe Himself as the “good
shepherd.” He’s our good shepherd! That’s another way of saying He’s our‘Good
pastor’ because a shepherd is a pastor.
David, by the spirit outlined the qualities of the good shepherd in Psalm 23: 1-3: “the lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” The Good shepherd feeds his sheep without their having to ask; He nurtures, guides and protects them from harm. He seeks out the best pasture for them and leads them to that pasture.
As long as you follow Jesus, our Good
shepherd, your life is made! It’s His responsibility to nurture and care for
His sheep. Since the Lord Jesus has gone to heaven, one way He cares for His
sheep today is through those He has called into the pastoral ministry (Ephesians 4:11). That’s
why it’s important that you attend church services and hear
the word of God which is food from the Good shepherd.
Remember, our Good
Shepherd loved you enough to give his life for you. Thus He cares what becomes
of your life. He wants you to live in absolute peace, joy health and prosperity.
He wants you to fulfill your destiny in God without reproach. Hearken to His
voice daily, and He’ll lead you in the path of greatness, prosperity and peace.
