What’s Your Response?

Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, is it well with thee? Is it well with thy husband? Is it well with the child? And she answered, it is well (2 king 4:26)
The woman in the scripture above was on her way to meet Elisha the Prophet. On sighting her, he asked his servant to go and enquire from her if all was well. She was on her way to meet him because her son had died. When the prophet’s servant asked her, “Is it well with the child?” she replied “it is well”. That’s faith! At no time did she break down and wail that her son was dead, and because of her persistence, she got her boy back to life.
You must realize that it’s not just what happens in your life that is important, but what you do about it. What is your response to the crises of life that you face? Can you say,” it is well,” in the midst of adversity? When you open your kitchen cupboard and it’s bare, what will your response be? Are you going to describe the lack that you see? Or will you square up and say,” Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want”!  When the bank calls you up and tells you that the account is red, what will your response be? “I am broke” or will you say, “my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches and glory!”
You must learn to always respond in faith, and not base your reaction on what you see. If you respond according to the senses, there can be no change in the situation. However, when you respond in faith, you’re getting ready to change the situation. Your response will be bases on what is in your heart, this is why you must fill your heart with the word of God which will build your faith. So, the next time you feel the ‘squeeze’ of life, don’t cry and don’t run away. Focus on the word, and say, like the Shunamite woman, ‘it is well!’

You are alive by the Spirit

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you Romans 8:11. God gave birth to us by the Word, through the spirit. You’re not ordinary person if you are in Christ or if you have the new life in Christ Jesus. The human life you received from your parents has been replaced, supplanted, by the divine life of Christ. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of corruptible, by the word of god, which liveth and abideth forever.”    Often, I tell people that Christianity is more than a legal document; it’s a vital experience; there’s a true life from Christ beating in your heart which is the new life in Christ Jesus. The natural man (anyone without the New Life in Christ Jesus or anyone who is not born again) lives by blood, but a Christian lives by the Spirit. No wonder Jesus, referring to the ne...

The Reign of Death is over

Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come (Romans 5:14)  Satan became the god of this earth because he got it from Adam who lost out through disobedience, resulting significantly in the reign of death. Remember, God had told Adam, “… in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17). He was talking about spiritual death; spiritual death is the cause of physical death. So, our theme verse says, “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses (the Law of Moses)…”  But who had the power of death? The Bible says, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil” (Hebrews 2:14). Satan was actually behind this reign of death. Now, here’s something exciting that I want ...

The Divinity of Jesus

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father; but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, have seen him” John 14:6-7.   “Is Jesus really God?”   This is one question many still ask today. They believe He was a great prophet and teacher, but find it difficult to accept that He is Himself God, but He is. The Bible says “In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the Word was God ” John 1:1. That “Word” that the Bible says “was God” became flesh-Jesus- and dwelt among us: “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” John 1:14.     Now, the prophecy that came forth before the birth of Jesus also foretold His divinity: “Behold, a virgin shall be with a child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanue...
