“Watch ye, stand fast, quit you like men, be strong” 1 Corinthians 16:13.
Some people are unfruitful in their faith-walk
because they’re burdened by the cares and desires of this life, and these choke
God’s word in their hearts Mark 4:18-19. The first thing you must do to stand
firm in the faith is to set your heart on the Lord; give Him your undivided
attention. Proverbs 23:26 says, “My son, give me thine heart, and let thine
eyes observe my ways.”
This is
akin to what the Lord said in Proverbs 4:20: “My son, attend to my words;
incline thine ear unto my sayings.” Remember, faith comes by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God Romans 10:17. For your faith to grow and prevail
you have to attend to God’s Word and incline your ears to His sayings. That
means you focus and give prime attention to the Word in your life. The
necessary result of this is that your thoughts, words and actions will be in
sync with the Word. That way, you’re unshakeable.
Many
vacillate so easily because they give room to too many distractions in their
lives. Never allow anything distract or sway you from the truth of God’s Word.
Jesus said in Luke 21:34, “and take heed to yourselves, lest at any
time your hearts be over charged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of
this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.” The Bible also
says, “Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you
guard, for out of it flow the springs of life” Proverbs 4:23.
So
it’s your responsibility to take charge of your heart and stop yourself from
veering off course. The coming of the Lord is near and it’s important for us to
be grounded in the Word of and keep your eyes on the goal, standing firm in the
faith. this isn’t the time to vacillate or cower but a time to focus on doing
the maser’s will and fulfill His call for your life: “Therefore, my beloved brethren,
be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch
as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” 1 Corinthians
15:58.
