Praying in Tongues is Spiritual Exercise

But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise   thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come, 1 Timothy 4:7-8.
Exercising yourself unto godliness means exercising your human spirit, which is the real you. Man is a spirit; he lives in a body, and has a soul. While physical exercise is useful for the physical body, the benefits are still little when compared with spiritual exercise which is of “profitable unto all things” (1Timothy 4:8). One sure way of exercising yourself unto godliness is praying with the spirit, in other tongues. This is one spiritual exercise that keeps your spirit-man aglow and afire for God!
Christians who regularly pray in tongues are more “fit” spiritually than those who don’t. They’ll always be more attuned to the things of the spirit! They are more sensitive and responsive to the anointing, and more easily moved by the Holy Ghost. They are hardly the ones the Lord will have a hard time getting to pray at night, or evangelize to someone, or give financially to kingdom work. Their every inclination will always be to do the things of God –no dullness or lackadaisical attitude about them when it comes to doing the things of God.
On the contrary, Christians who don’t speak in tongues often find it challenging to respond to, and relate with the Spirit of God. They are the folks in the church who are hard to convince! Even when the Word of God is clear on an issue, they’ll still have questions or objections. That’s because they aren’t in tune with the Spirit; they’re not “fit” spiritually. What such folks need is to spend more time praying in tongues and it will remarkably impact their lives.
Any good athlete for example, will admit that getting up early in the morning to jog while others are sleeping may not always be fun, but it’s a necessary activity for the one who wants to win the race. In the same way, you must also cultivate the discipline and habit of speaking in tongues. It’s a great spiritual exercise; it’s the fastest way to activate and energize your spirit. It’s a sure way to keep your spirit attire for God

You are alive by the Spirit

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you Romans 8:11. God gave birth to us by the Word, through the spirit. You’re not ordinary person if you are in Christ or if you have the new life in Christ Jesus. The human life you received from your parents has been replaced, supplanted, by the divine life of Christ. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of corruptible, by the word of god, which liveth and abideth forever.”    Often, I tell people that Christianity is more than a legal document; it’s a vital experience; there’s a true life from Christ beating in your heart which is the new life in Christ Jesus. The natural man (anyone without the New Life in Christ Jesus or anyone who is not born again) lives by blood, but a Christian lives by the Spirit. No wonder Jesus, referring to the ne...

The Reign of Death is over

Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come (Romans 5:14)  Satan became the god of this earth because he got it from Adam who lost out through disobedience, resulting significantly in the reign of death. Remember, God had told Adam, “… in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17). He was talking about spiritual death; spiritual death is the cause of physical death. So, our theme verse says, “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses (the Law of Moses)…”  But who had the power of death? The Bible says, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil” (Hebrews 2:14). Satan was actually behind this reign of death. Now, here’s something exciting that I want ...

The Divinity of Jesus

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father; but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, have seen him” John 14:6-7.   “Is Jesus really God?”   This is one question many still ask today. They believe He was a great prophet and teacher, but find it difficult to accept that He is Himself God, but He is. The Bible says “In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the Word was God ” John 1:1. That “Word” that the Bible says “was God” became flesh-Jesus- and dwelt among us: “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” John 1:14.     Now, the prophecy that came forth before the birth of Jesus also foretold His divinity: “Behold, a virgin shall be with a child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanue...
