Walking in the newness of life in Christ Jesus

The coming of Jesus Christ ushered us into another kind of life. This is what some people do not understand especially people who are not in Christ. This is why some babies or new converts are acting as if everything is still the same. “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:3-4. From these verses we just read, it is important to note that baptism is symbolic to the death and burial of Jesus Christ. Since, Jesus Christ rose from death, we also were raised with him, praise the Lord! We were not raised as the same person we used to be. That is why Paul was asking “Know ye not” in other words are you not aware of the change in which has taken place in you? This is very remarkable “As Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we…” we came back to life with the glory of the Father.  That glory is in us so we should walk in newness of life. You can see why you cannot be disadvantaged in life.

The Newness of life is for anyone in Christ Jesus

Some Christians are not aware of the privileges that they have as Christians that is why they struggling in every area of their lives.1 John 5:12. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. The life you have is activated the moment you give your life to Christ Jesus. So if you are in Christ, you have that very life of God in you. It is a new life, 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…”  “He is…” present tense, that means a present hour reality, not he was but he is, now! Praise Lord! 1John 3:2, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God…”  Now are we not tomorrow or when we get to heaven. You have this life now! You don’t receive the newness of life because you are a member of a Christian group; you are in the new life if you have Christ in you.

How to receive the new life in Christ Jesus

How to walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus

Walking in the newness of life requires faith in Christ Jesus because …Without faith it is impossible to please God: for he that cometh to God must Believe that He is, and He is the rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrew 11: 6. The newness of life is the product of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In the book of Romans 6:5-6, “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in likeness of his resurrection: knowing this that our old man is crucified with him, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” As a new creature, you are to be aware of who you are! Your body is made for righteousness by faith in Christ Jesus. The place we just read is telling about our new state in Christ because in baptism we were crucified with him and in his resurrection, we are alive in him. So, we have the freedom of worshiping God the newness of life. Romans 6:11-12, “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in lust thereof.” Walking in the newness of life also means living according to the word of God and seeing yourself through the mirror of the word of God. Note, “reckon ye also yourselves to be dead…” that mean consider yourself dead with him. Colossians 3:1-3, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, for ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” Walking in the newness of life is seeking to please God. When your affection is to do the will of the Father and turning men to God, you are walking in the newness of life.

You are alive by the Spirit

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you Romans 8:11. God gave birth to us by the Word, through the spirit. You’re not ordinary person if you are in Christ or if you have the new life in Christ Jesus. The human life you received from your parents has been replaced, supplanted, by the divine life of Christ. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of corruptible, by the word of god, which liveth and abideth forever.”    Often, I tell people that Christianity is more than a legal document; it’s a vital experience; there’s a true life from Christ beating in your heart which is the new life in Christ Jesus. The natural man (anyone without the New Life in Christ Jesus or anyone who is not born again) lives by blood, but a Christian lives by the Spirit. No wonder Jesus, referring to the ne...

The Reign of Death is over

Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come (Romans 5:14)  Satan became the god of this earth because he got it from Adam who lost out through disobedience, resulting significantly in the reign of death. Remember, God had told Adam, “… in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17). He was talking about spiritual death; spiritual death is the cause of physical death. So, our theme verse says, “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses (the Law of Moses)…”  But who had the power of death? The Bible says, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil” (Hebrews 2:14). Satan was actually behind this reign of death. Now, here’s something exciting that I want ...

The Divinity of Jesus

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father; but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, have seen him” John 14:6-7.   “Is Jesus really God?”   This is one question many still ask today. They believe He was a great prophet and teacher, but find it difficult to accept that He is Himself God, but He is. The Bible says “In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the Word was God ” John 1:1. That “Word” that the Bible says “was God” became flesh-Jesus- and dwelt among us: “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” John 1:14.     Now, the prophecy that came forth before the birth of Jesus also foretold His divinity: “Behold, a virgin shall be with a child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanue...
